Sriyankari Chitti, from Marlboro, New Jersey, is pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Sriya aspires to create new therapeutics for widespread chronic diseases and understand their underlying biochemical mechanisms. Since her freshman year at Illinois, Sriya has developed a new method of automating the construction of complex small molecules, which is currently paving the path to a more efficient drug discovery process. She has written and received multiple research grants to support her work including the ACS Division of Organic Chemistry SURF and the Clare Boothe Luce Research Fellowship. Sriya has also been invited to present her work nationally and received multiple national awards for her presentations. She is also a recipient of the Goldwater Scholarship and is pursuing her PhD as an NSF GRFP Fellow.
