Sudhan Chitgopkar

Sudhan Chitgopkar, from Cumming, Georgia, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with bachelor’s degrees in computer science and international affairs, then earned a master’s degree from Harvard in computational science and engineering. Extending his engineering interests in algorithmic fairness and computational social choice into law, Sudhan is focused on designing and governing algorithms in ways that are more fair, safe, and accountable to the societies they impact. These algorithms also shape Sudhan’s view of aesthetics and nature. He creates mathematically inspired art, was a lecturer for Harvard’s first January-term course on mathematical visualization, has held grant-funded art exhibitions, and delivered one of the most widely viewed TEDx talks on generative art. Across these pursuits, Sudhan explores a single theme: The principles that guide how we create and govern systems — whether in law, engineering, or art — ought to reflect our societal values.
