Taishi Nakase, from Melbourne, Australia, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in operations research and financial engineering and studied at the University of Oxford for a master’s degree in modeling for global health. Taishi aspires to join the community of physicians and scientists that work to eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases from the developing world. He has developed mathematical models for the deployment of vaccination campaigns in developing countries with the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in Vietnam and with researchers at Princeton University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At Princeton University, he was selected as valedictorian of the Class of 2021 and was the recipient of the James Hayes-Edgar Palmer Prize in Engineering and the Frank Castellana Prize in Operations Research and Financial Engineering.
