Valerie Osband

2018 Cohort, Graduate

Valerie Osband, who grew up in the United Kingdom and the US, is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a master’s degree in public policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from Imperial College London with a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering, where she received the Armourers & Brasiers’ Company Award and the City & Guilds College Union Student Activity Award. She is passionate about the benefits financial technology can bring to people, corporations, and the wider global society. While at Stanford, she founded the Stanford FinTech Club, was an investment team lead for the GSB Impact Fund and leads the associate committee for Stanford Women on Boards. She has worked as a Product Manager at the Brazilian-based payments company SumUp and global micro-lender Tala, and as an investor at Centana Growth Partners. Previously, she was an associate in the Global Capital Markets division of the small-business lending platform Funding Circle and was a board member of crowd-funding charity The Funding Network. Prior to this, she was an analyst at Macquarie Bank. She was also a qualifying athlete in the 2017 Ironman World Championships.
