William Jarrett

MIDN William Jarrett, from Gales Ferry, Connecticut, is pursuing a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2022, where he studied honors robotics and control engineering and Spanish, with a research focus on electro-optics and optical communication systems as one of thirteen Trident Scholars. Following graduation, he will be commissioned in the US Navy to serve as a submarine warfare officer.  Additionally, Will hopes to apply to the astronaut program after graduation from Stanford and gain operational experience aboard the Navy’s nuclear submarines. Outside of the classroom, he is a member of the Men’s Lightweight Crew team, competing and winning in the lightweight straight four at the 2021 IRA National Championships.  Last summer, Will had the opportunity to live abroad in Costa Rica as a culmination of his Spanish studies.
