Yeongseo Son

Yeongseo Son, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is pursuing a PhD in immunology at Stanford School of Medicine. She received a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology, a bachelor of arts in anthropology, and a certificate in immunology at the University of Georgia. Yeongseo plans to research how the immune system interacts with the environment, particularly within the lungs, to improve global respiratory health. Her research experiences span neutrophil biology, lung development, Bronze Age agricultural practices, ant caste differentiation, and STEM education. Committed to turning science into accessible stories, Yeongseo has interviewed global scientists through her podcast Let’s Talk Chemistry, spearheaded on-campus health magazines, and volunteered at local science museums. A Stamps Scholar and Jack Kent Cooke College Scholar, she received the American Association of Immunologists Young Scholars Award.
