Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Yu Tin Lin, from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. He graduated from the University of Florida (UF) with bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, statistics, and biology. Yu Tin aspires to map the molecular signatures of mammalian diseases de novo to empower targeted therapeutic design and research. In college, he leveraged imaging mass spectrometry to map the metabolome and lipidome of mitochondrial diseases. He also developed artificial intelligence pipelines to aid the discovery of diseased molecular profiles from experimental imaging data. He received the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, several research awards from scientific organizations, and was UF’s first two-time College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Scholar. In Taiwan, he won the 2014 national competition in erhu (a Chinese two-stringed instrument), held every two years by the National Taiwan Arts Education Center.
