Siranush Babakhanova

Siranush Babakhanova, from Yerevan, Armenia, is pursuing a PhD in Biophysics at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in physics. Siranush aspires to apply physical and computational sciences to build tools to readout, manipulate, and augment complex biological systems. She worked on exoatmosphere-wide simulations at NASA, and designed tools for deep brain imaging and in situ proteomics in Boyden lab. She co-founded Xapiens human augmentation initiative, served as a president at MIT Armenian Society, and advised SEDS projects. Siranush became the first Armenian woman to win each of six International Olympiad awards and was named Best Presidential Scholar. Her teams earned second place in the NASA BIG Idea Challenge, Council for Arts at MIT Grants, and she was selected NSF GRFP, Interact and ADVANCE program fellow and Hertz Foundation Fellowship Finalist.
