Christopher Giles

Christopher Giles, from London, England, is pursuing a masters degree in journalism at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a bachelor's degree in politics. Christopher plans to challenge the rising threat of disinformation to democracy and society by using open-source reporting techniques. He has been at the forefront of BBC News's efforts to combat misinformation around the world, authoring articles on covid-related conspiracy theories and debunking false claims about election fraud and the 2020 US presidential vote. More recently in 2021, he led a high-impact investigation into the shooting of a young pro-democracy protester in Myanmar. Christopher has also reported for CNN International in Nigeria and Lebanon, and for Vice Media in Ukraine. He grew up in north London and was Head Boy at his local school.
