Henry Bair

2021 Cohort

Henry Bair, from Taichung, Taiwan, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine and a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a bachelor’s degree in medieval studies. His primary research interest lies in utilizing innovative technologies to deliver efficient and accessible patient-centered care. He has worked on establishing a telehealth network for eye care across rural Taiwan and on developing surgical devices for treating ocular trauma, the latter of which resulted in several pending patents. Additionally, Henry is passionate about medical education, especially improving the patient-provider relationship through cultural competency and humanistic medicine. At the Stanford School of Medicine, he directs a curriculum on techniques for managing difficult conversations with patients facing serious and life-limiting illnesses. Henry has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles, which have been featured in JAMA, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, and Journal of Palliative Medicine, among other publications.
