Olivia Martin, from San Diego, California, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School and a PhD in economics at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Olivia aspires to help governments better collect and use data to design and implement sustainable, equitable and evidence-based policy. Olivia led the research and analysis efforts at USAFacts, a not-for-profit, nonpartisan civic initiative dedicated to increasing the availability of government data to drive fact-based discussion. She also helped Ballmer Group philanthropy develop a new portfolio of talent-related investments. At Stanford, she served as the chair of Stanford in Government, one of the university’s largest student groups. Her research has been published in a peer-reviewed journal, and she was a recipient of the Anna Laura Myers Prize for Outstanding Honors Thesis in Economics.
