Yujie Tao

Yujie Tao, from Shanghai, China, is pursuing a PhD in computer science at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree as a double major in media and journalism and computer science. She earned her master’s degree in computer science at University of Chicago. Yujie aspires to improve global well-being with emerging computer interfaces that allow users to interact through physical and tactile means. She also takes initiative to increase diversity and inclusion in STEM. She was the VP of marketing at Pearl Hacks, a beginner-friendly hackathon for women and nonbinary students to explore technology. She also founded the UNC Product Management Club with the aim of introducing the product management career to a broader audience. Yujie has published at premier conferences in human-computer interaction, receiving Best Paper Award at ACM UIST 2021.
