Serage Amatory

Serage Amatory, from Barouk-Chouf, Lebanon, is pursuing master’s degrees in international policy and public policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. At American University in Cairo, he earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and multimedia journalism, with a focus on Middle East politics. He was awarded the US Department of State full scholarship, Tomorrow’s Leaders. A passionate advocate for the rights of women, children, and the LGBTQIA+ populations, he aspires through changes to the educational system in Lebanon to promote a secular, equal opportunity and gender-neutral society there. He was an administrator at the Lebanese LGBT Media Monitor in Beirut, and headed a team of volunteers at the Anti-Cancer Team in Egypt. He was news editor at Al-Jadeed, a leading Lebanese television station in Beirut, and interned at the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He received two President’s Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards at American University, and was a world finalist in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Serage is passionate about filmmaking and has directed/produced two human rights-themed films thus far.
